Is chiropractic covered by ACC in New Zealand?
Yes, when your condition is caused by an accident or injury. AWC is an ACC-registered provider and chiropractic is $40 per visit under ACC with any of our four NZCB-registered chiropractors. No GP referral is needed.
Is acupuncture covered by ACC?
Yes, for accident and injury-related conditions. Acupuncture is FREE with our three CMCNZ practitioners (Ada Zhong, Elaine Yang, Mike Lee) and $20 with Dr. Robin Won, NZ's only registered Acupuncture Specialist, or Dr. Boram Kim (PhD). Seniors 70+ and patients under 18 pay $10 with Dr. Won or Dr. Kim.

Can I use ACC on a work or visitor visa?
Yes. ACC covers anyone injured in New Zealand: residents, work visa holders, students and visitors. Your visa type does not affect ACC eligibility.
Can I combine chiropractic and acupuncture under ACC?
Yes. Many injuries respond best to a combined plan, and at AWC both are available under one roof from ACC-registered practitioners. Your practitioner will recommend what fits your injury and recovery stage.
Who is Dr. Robin Won?
Dr. Robin Won is the only registered Acupuncture Specialist in New Zealand (CMCNZ #1926). All five AWC acupuncture and TCM practitioners are CMCNZ-registered.
What injuries qualify for ACC treatment?
Accident and injury-related conditions: sports injuries, workplace injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries such as whiplash, and falls or accidents at home. If your pain is injury-related, there was an incident, and ACC may cover your treatment.
How long does the ACC claim take?
We lodge the ACC45 claim during your first visit and treatment can usually begin the same day. There is no paperwork for you to manage.
Is Chinese herbal medicine covered by ACC?
No. ACC funds acupuncture for accident and injury-related conditions, but Chinese herbal medicine is not covered by ACC.
