Why employers bring us on-site

Lower the risk of escalating ACC claims.Early intervention can help stop small strains from becoming long-term injuries.
Fewer musculoskeletal disruptions.Healthier backs, necks and shoulders mean steadier output across the team.
A predictable wellness investment.A clear, scoped program you can budget for, not an open-ended cost.

Desk Work Is Quietly Costing Your Business

The modern office runs on sitting, screens and repetition. Over time, that loads the spine, the neck and the wrists. The result shows up not in the clinic, but in your roster, your output and your ACC paperwork.

1

Lower Back Pain

One of the leading causes of workplace absence. Hours of sitting compress the lumbar spine and weaken the supporting muscles, until a simple movement triggers days away from the desk.

2

Neck and Shoulder Tension

Screens pull the head forward and the shoulders up. Held for eight hours a day, that posture builds chronic tension that drains focus and slows people down.

3

Tension Headaches

Tight necks and clenched shoulders often refer pain upward. Recurring headaches quietly erode concentration, mood and the quality of your team's work.

4

Repetitive Strain

Typing, clicking and mousing all day load the same small structures over and over. Left unaddressed, repetitive strain becomes one of the most stubborn workplace injuries to recover from.

Ignored musculoskeletal issues rarely stay small. They escalate into sick leave, ACC claims and long-term injury. Most of it is preventable with the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

The Numbers Behind Workplace Care

You do not have to take our word for it. The cost of musculoskeletal problems at work is well documented by New Zealand's own agencies and by international research.

209,400

In 2024, ACC accepted around 209,400 work-related injury claims. Work injuries make up about 10% of all claims but 22% of total claim costs.

~27%

Musculoskeletal harm accounts for around 27% of work-related health loss in New Zealand, making it a leading cause of workplace disability.

6.7 days

New Zealand employees took an average of 6.7 sick days in the past year, at a median cost of $1,319 per absence and an estimated $4.17 billion nationally.

International research suggests that well-designed workplace wellness programs can return several dollars in reduced absence and health costs for every dollar invested. One widely cited analysis found around $3.27 in lower medical costs and $2.73 in reduced absenteeism for every dollar spent (Health Affairs, 2010).

Individual results vary. AWC does not promise specific savings. The figures above are drawn from independent New Zealand and international sources, not from our own claims.

Up and Running in Four Simple Steps

Bringing chiropractic care on-site is far easier than most employers expect. All we need is one quiet room.

1

Schedule

We agree on a visit rhythm that suits you, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You stay in control of the cadence.

2

Notify

We provide simple internal materials so your team can learn about the program and sign up for a slot in minutes.

3

Space

You provide one private room. We bring everything else. First visits run about 20 minutes, follow-ups around 10, so a session fits neatly into the working day.

4

Care

Each staff member receives an individualised assessment, a chiropractic adjustment where appropriate, plus posture and exercise guidance they can use at their desk every day.

Sessions are confidential, professional and built around your workday, not the other way around.

We Come to You

On-site chiropractic is the core of what we offer, and we can shape the program around your workplace, your calendar and your goals.

Common Questions From Employers

How much space do we need?
One private room is enough. We bring our own equipment and set up quickly, so your office keeps running around us.
How long does each session take?
First visits run about 20 minutes and follow-ups around 10. A 2-hour visit can comfortably see up to 12 staff members.
Does this involve ACC or insurance?
On-site programs are typically employer-funded as a preventive service, and ACC does not directly fund workplace wellness programs. Because AWC's chiropractors are registered with the New Zealand Chiropractic Board and ACC, individual injuries can still be managed through standard ACC claims at the clinic. We can talk through how ACC pathways may apply to individual care when we scope your proposal, with no obligation.
Do staff have to take part?
No. Participation is always voluntary. Staff choose to book a slot, and care is delivered privately and professionally.
Is there a minimum number of staff?
Sessions are most effective with a small group, and a 2-hour visit suits teams of up to 12. We can scope the right fit for smaller or larger workplaces during your proposal.
Are we locked into a contract?
No. The trial is a clean 6-week engagement with no long-term commitment. You decide whether to continue afterwards.
How is staff privacy protected?
All care is confidential and handled in line with New Zealand's Privacy Act and Health Information Privacy Code. Employers receive program-level information only, never individual health details.
