Kids Chiropractor on the North Shore, Auckland

Dr. Mayyada Mahmoud (Milford) and Dr. Ti Hill (Rosedale and Milford) see a lot of primary school-aged children. Most come in for one of two reasons: posture that has changed with school bags and screens, or an injury from sport. Both chiropractors use a range of gentle techniques and match every adjustment to the child's size and comfort. Accident injuries are covered by ACC at $40 a visit, with no GP referral needed.

Who we see

Most of the children we see are at primary school, roughly 5 to 12 years old. We also see teenagers who play sport. A parent or caregiver stays in the room at every visit.

What parents bring them in for

Posture

Rounded shoulders and a forward head from devices, desks and heavy or one-sided school bags. We look at how your child sits, stands and moves, then show a few simple habits for home and school.

Sports injuries

Sprains, strains, knocks and falls from rugby, football, netball, gymnastics, dance and the playground. If it happened in an accident, ACC covers it.

Back and neck discomfort

Aches after long hours at a desk, a big training week, or carrying a heavy bag. We check what is going on and explain it in plain language before any treatment.

How we adjust children

Children are not small adults, so the adjustment changes with them. Both chiropractors are experienced across several gentle techniques and choose the one that suits the child:

  • Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT): padded wedge blocks under the pelvis let gravity do most of the work.
  • Activator: a small hand-held instrument that gives a light, precise impulse.
  • Drop table: a table section that drops a short distance, so very little force is needed.
  • Diversified: a hands-on method, used with much lighter force for children.
Many children never need a manual "crack". If your child is nervous, tell us and we will go at their pace.

ACC and fees

If your child was hurt in an accident, ACC covers the visit. Children pay the same as adults: $40 per ACC visit. We lodge the ACC claim at the first appointment, so there is no need to see a GP first. For care that is not injury-related, private fees are $105 for the first visit and $70 for follow-ups.

What happens at the first visit

  • We talk with you and your child about their health, activities and what you have noticed.
  • We look at posture and movement, and check the area that is bothering them.
  • We explain what we found and what we suggest, in plain language, before any treatment.
  • If treatment is right for your child, we start gently. You stay in the room the whole time.
